Message For Tết Nhâm Dần From The Hon Alex Hawke MP
Message for Tết Nhâm Dần from the Hon Alex Hawke MP – Minister For Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs
Happy New Year to the Vietnamese Australian community and all those around the world celebrating Tết, over the coming days.
Tết is a special time of the year. It is a time for families to come together in celebration, to feast and pay respect to elders and ancestors, whilst welcoming the new year in with a sense of hope and optimism.
The New Year festivities are undoubtedly one of the highlights of Australia’s cultural calendar, with Australians from all backgrounds looking forward to participating in the wide variety of vibrant Tết celebrations across our country. Whether it is sharing offerings of food such as Bánh Tét or Bánh Chưng or participating in colourful parades, the sharing of traditions across our communities is a wonderful reminder of our success and unity as a multicultural nation.
Tết also offers us opportunities of a new beginning and fresh start. Despite the challenges of the past two years, you have already reflected the strength and bravery of the Tiger in your actions, ensuring Australia remains a safe and inclusive place for all.
As Australians celebrate the New Year, I know that we will face the coming year’s challenges with all of the strength, courage, confidence and optimism that the Tiger represents.
I wish you good health, happiness and prosperity in the year ahead.
Chúc mừng năm mới.
