About Us

The Vietnamese Community in Australia / SA Chapter Inc. (VCA-SA) was established in 1978, as a result of the arrival of the boat people (refugees) who fled Vietnam after the Communists had taken over the country. This community was originally formed to address the settlement needs of the Vietnamese refugees and to advocate for socially disadvantaged people and those whose human rights have been violated.

The organisation however has grown significantly since and is now offering a range of cultural services to an increasingly diverse client group. The services target both Vietnamese and non-Vietnamese speaking community members who are in need, with a focus on people from non-English speaking backgrounds, especially the new communities from Africa, the Middle East and the South Asia.

VCA-SA offers the following specialised services:

  • Social welfare services through Community Access & Services SA
  • Education and culture through the Vietnamese Ethnic School
  • Child care through the Vietnamese Cultural Diversity Vacation Care
  • Regular activities through the Community Centre
